”..I love you, Sora..”
“Riku.. I..I love you, too..”
Upon hearing such a heartfelt confession between the two teens at their arrival, Xehanort felt rage stir in his heart. From the moment he had laid eyes on Sora, he knew what he wanted. Him. All to himself. And if it meant taking down those who stood in his way, so be it.
And so the games begun. Xehanort met up with the young Keyblader, presenting him with all the charm and sincerity he could muster up. But Sora saw right through him, he could see what he really was. He was Xehanort, and all Xehanorts must be defeated. Their alliance was with the darkness, and all they brought was chaos and destruction..He wouldn’t fall into a trap so easily.
He tried countless times to win Sora over..but there was always that one thing blocking him. That light driving out his darkness. Riku. He wouldn’t let him stand in his way any longer.
“This wakeless sleep will be your prison..to wander, forever. Now come with me. Your abyss awaits.”
He approached the pest, ready to squish him like the insolent bug he was. Riku could feel the darkness pouring off of Xehanort as he drew closer, flooding into him, wrapping around his heart, squeezing it, consuming it..
And he fell.
No longer anything more than a mere empty puppet, all the light that kept him whole extinguished. Riku opened now golden eyes, silent and awaiting orders.
After specific instructions from Xehanort, Riku set out to fight Sora. And though Sora refused to fight him at first, he knew there was no choice. And so the battle became intense, both sides fighting for their lives..but there would be only one victor.
Sora stood above his beaten and broken companion, watching as his breaths shortened, shortened..stopped. And the weight of the worlds crashed down on him. His knees buckled, falling down beside his fallen friend. He could hear his heart shattering in his chest. He killed him..He killed his best friend, his partner, the person he loved more than anything..He killed Riku.
And just like that, he, too, fell. Fell into despair. He no longer had any will to move on..to fight. And so he fell right into Xehanort’s welcoming embrace.
